After the series of gruesome events occurred in Evil Dead and Evil Dead II, Ash is transported by the Necronomicón ex Mortis to the England 1300ac. There ,he has to find the Necronomicón in order come back to his time, but when he takes it, he wakes up the Army of Darkness and at the same time, his evil part turns to live and commands the army.Then , Ash will have to guide the humans in a battle against the no dead army and protect the Necronomicón to save the humanity go back to his epoch.In this movie Ash gained a hand of metal that replaces the amputated one.

The movie has two alternative endings available both in the DVD version.

In the original ending (the version right here), Ash took shelter in a cave with his car, he has to drink 6 drops of a liquid. Each drop will make him to sleep one century, but Ash drank 7 waking up in the XXI century seeing a world completely destroyed by a Nuclear War. This was the final that Sam Raimi wished (A Planet Of The Apes parody)

In the ending for the cinematographic version Ash reappeared directly in the store where he used to work, while he is telling the whole story to a partner and immediately after seduces a girl over there , one employee is possessed and Ash tear down her quickly.
